Using OBP to increase web traffic - Part III - Youtube

You will remember my previous post on titled “Youtubing your web traffic”. This is a totally different way to increase web traffic. But unlike my previous post on uploading videos and so on, we are going to use youtube as a research tool to find blogs that linking to videos, that have an active audience that are clicking on videos in the site. This means people are involved and active in the group

The great thing about this method is you don’t have to login to any account, or create one for that matter and you can watch all videos on the site.

So how do i use youtube to generate web traffic?

Step 1 - Go to the youtube website

Step 2 - Search using keywords relevant to your site

Step 3 - Select videos that are relevant and have a high rating

You may want to watch the video for relevance but generally the keywords and the title will give it away. If you want you can read what users have commented.

Step 4 - Click on the ‘Statistics & Data’ tab

Step 5 - Look under the heading ‘Sites Linking to this Video’

Under this heading, you will see a list of websites that are linking to the video and have had people visit the site. You want to find sites that have people who are actively clicking on videos in the site as this indicates that this is a community that is actively involved in the blog. You can also use this method to find sites to link with, or advertise with but we are using it to comment on.

Be aware though some sites are pure selling sites, so be patient and find the pages that you can comment on and comment away!
