Using OPB to increase web traffic - Introduction

Your probably wondering what ‘OBP’ stands for and how it used to increase web traffic?? Most investors will be familiar with the first two letters of the acronym but it basically stands for “other people’s blogs”. So you might ask how do we generate traffic using OBP. Quite simply…. You comment on them!

But the real question is how do we find blogs that firstly are related.. and secondly are they going increase traffic to your website?

Over the next 4 weeks i will be presenting 4 very well known websites that i use to find blogs that are relevant to your site. I believe that this is unique and is something i wasn’t taught but has steadily increase traffic to my website.

But before i show you how i do it.. let lay down some rules on the different angles you can take with your comments on other people’s blog. This post is specifically about placing down a foundation for the next 4 weeks, and is important so that you are not perceived as spamming other people’s blogs. Therefore I would encourage you to read it again before you read the upcoming posts.

Basically, there are three ways to increase web traffic to your website. You either can

  • Buy It; or
  • Borrow It; or
  • Redirect It

What i will be talking about in this blog is the latter. More specifically we want to redirect our traffic by posting replies on other people’s blog posts by using their comments form box. Most blogs have a comment box after the post, and some may need you to click on the ‘comments’ hyperlink and some blogs don’t have any comment feature at all

But i must highly stress that this is not an opportunity to post something along the lines of ‘hey visit my webpage @ blah blah blah on someone else’s blogs. Most blogs moderate comments and quite simply will reject blatant advertising, or at minimum remove your hyperlink

So we have to be intelligent about our reply posts, and your aim is to enhance the value of that post by providing your wisdom, or to faciliate discussion. And remember the person who wrote the blog actually has your best interests, they are presenting information and definitely want you to learn or be entertained.

So while your on the page, read over the post and understand before your reply. This is your opportunity to highlight your expertees, so take the time to read and understand before you comment and you are less likely to be rejected

So here the different angles you can take on blog responses so that you increase traffic to your website. You can comment on

  • questions from other people’s blog comments
  • the best websites to visit that is related to the topic
  • hot button issues of the day
  • an interview you heard online
  • a book review related to the topic
  • stuff that annoys you to let off steam
  • news related information
  • ask a question or pose a challenge
  • your own personal story
  • any resource, tool, or software that you feel would enhance other readers

So you are probably asking right now, how do we generate web traffic?

Most comment boxes asks for three things:

  1. Your name
  2. Your email
  3. Your URL

So when you input your URL, your name gets hyperlinked to your website. You can also add a signature line but i don’t. Alot of blogs have nofollow tags on your comments, which is a shame as they are protecting their google page rank, but our goal is to redirect traffic to our site

One final tip here which I use alot to increase traffic to my website and have found it to work quite well. When choosing a name to fill in the comment form, use something that is suggestive of your site, for example i like to use Traffic2MyPage.com as my name. For obvious reasons, when people glance down a list of comments, we really need our name to stand out. And because my name reads like an internet address, the reader immediately knows my address

So how many visitors will be redirected to your site? I can’t promise anything, that really depends on the quality of your replies, but i have seen an increase in traffic to my website using this strategy.

To your success
